Delivered Through the Storm
4/25/2025
“The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all.”
– Psalm 34:19 (NIV)
Trouble is no stranger to any of us. Whether it comes in the form of a broken relationship, financial strain, a health crisis, or the loss of someone we love, life can hit hard. And sometimes it hits the righteous hardest. That seems unfair, doesn’t it?
Yet, today’s verse pulls back the curtain and reminds us that righteousness does not exempt us from pain. In fact, it might even invite it. King David, who wrote this psalm, knew this firsthand. He was pursued by Saul, forced to flee, and even had to feign insanity just to survive. His life was anything but easy, but God never abandoned him. He was delivered time and time again.
The promise here isn’t that the righteous will avoid troubles; it’s that they will be delivered through them.
Think of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the fiery furnace, not spared from it, but preserved within it. Or Daniel in the lion’s den, not kept from the danger, but delivered through it. God doesn’t always take us around the storm, He often walks us right through it, holding our hand the entire way.
We must understand that God’s deliverance doesn’t always look like what we expect. Sometimes it’s not the removal of the pain, but the peace He gives in the middle of it. Sometimes it’s not the escape from difficulty, but the endurance to stand firm in faith.
Righteousness is not about living a trouble-free life, it’s about knowing who holds you in the trouble. And that makes all the difference.
Here are a few ways to help you in your journey.
Reflect on a time God delivered you from a difficult season. Thank Him for His faithfulness.
Pray for someone you know who is walking through trouble today.
Memorize Psalm 34:19 as a reminder of God’s promise during your trials.
Encourage someone this week by sharing this verse with them, especially if they’re struggling.
Today, when you feel overwhelmed by trouble, whisper this truth: “The Lord delivers.” Trust not in the absence of problems, but in the presence of a faithful Deliverer. Walk with boldness, knowing you are never alone in the storm.
Lord, thank You for being my Deliverer. Even when trouble surrounds me, I will not fear, for You are with me. Strengthen my faith when I’m weary, and remind me of Your presence when I feel alone. Help me to cling to Your promises and walk in Your peace. Use my life as a testimony of Your faithful love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
