The Only Name That Saves
04/07/2025
“Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”
- Acts 4:12 (NIV)
The early church was bold. In today’s reading, Peter and John had just healed a man who had been lame from birth. The religious leaders were furious. Not just because of the miracle, but because it was done in the name of Jesus. When questioned, Peter stood his ground and proclaimed this powerful truth: “There is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”
In a world full of choices and voices, this statement might sound narrow or exclusive. But it is not spoken from a place of arrogance; it’s a declaration of divine love. God didn’t leave us to search blindly for salvation. He made a way, one way, through His Son, Jesus. And that way is open to everyone.
Think of it this way: if your house was on fire and a firefighter broke down your door and shouted, “This is the only way out!” you wouldn’t argue about options, you’d be grateful someone came to rescue you.
Peter wasn’t trying to win a debate. He was bearing witness to what he knew firsthand. Jesus, crucified and risen, had changed his life. The same Peter who denied Christ three times now spoke with courage before powerful men. What changed him? The resurrection power of Jesus and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.
We live in a culture that often tries to make all spiritual paths equal. But the gospel doesn’t claim to be one of many truths. It claims to be the truth, and that Jesus is the way, the ONLY way.
Here are some ideas for you to help you on your journey.
Reflect on your story
When did you first recognize the saving power of Jesus? Thank Him for that moment.
Share boldly
Look for an opportunity today to share, even briefly, how Jesus has changed your life.
Pray for someone
Ask God to open the heart of a friend or loved one who doesn’t yet know the name that saves.
Memorize Acts 4:12
Let it anchor your faith and remind you of the power in Jesus’ name.
Speak the name of Jesus boldly today. Not with pride, but with the passion of someone who knows what it means to be rescued. Don’t shrink back. There is power in His name. There is salvation in no other.
Lord Jesus, thank You for being the only name that brings salvation. Thank You for coming after me when I was lost and giving me life. Give me courage to speak Your name with boldness and love. Open the hearts of those who have yet to know You. Help me to live in a way that points others to You. In Your powerful and saving name I pray, Amen.
