Living for God’s Glory

“So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”
—1 Corinthians 10:31 NIV
It’s a simple command, yet it covers every corner of our lives; Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. This verse isn’t confined to just the spiritual or sacred moments like Sunday morning worship or prayer time. It reaches into the mundane, the routine, the seemingly insignificant parts of our day. Whether it’s sipping your morning coffee, preparing dinner, doing spreadsheets, or playing catch with your kids, Paul reminds us that every moment is an opportunity to reflect God’s goodness and grace.
Think about that. Even in eating or drinking, two of the most basic human functions, we can honor God. Why? Because God is not just interested in your church life; He’s interested in your whole life.
I remember a businessman who used to pray over his desk every morning before he started his day. He didn’t lead a church, and he didn’t speak from pulpits, but he saw his work as sacred. He met deadlines with integrity, treated coworkers with kindness, and made decisions not just for profit, but for purpose. That’s what it looks like to glorify God in all things.
Paul wrote this in the context of a church struggling with questions about what was right and wrong, particularly around food offered to idols. His answer wasn’t just about rules; it was about relationship. Our decisions, big and small, should reflect our desire to honor the God who gave us life.
So what if we saw every interaction today as a chance to point to Jesus? What if we approached our to-do list not as a burden, but as a platform for worship?
Consider incorporating the following steps into your daily walk. Allow God in by giving Him everything.
Pause and dedicate your day to God before you do anything else.
Evaluate your routines. Is there any part of your daily life that you’ve kept “secular” or separate from your faith?
Look for small ways to reflect God’s glory, whether it’s through encouraging words, integrity in your work, or gratitude in your heart.
Live today with full awareness that every breath, every task, and every interaction is a chance to glorify your Creator. Choose one mundane task and intentionally do it unto the Lord.
Father, thank You for reminding me that my whole life is an offering to You. Help me to glorify You not just in the big decisions, but in the small moments too. Teach me to live with purpose, to speak with grace, and to act with love so that everything I do points others to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
