Go and Tell the Good News

03/08/2025

“Mary Magdalene went to the disciples with the news: ‘I have seen the Lord!’ And she told them that he had said these things to her.”
— John 20:18 (NIV)

Imagine the overwhelming flood of emotions Mary Magdalene must have felt. Just days earlier, she had witnessed the brutal crucifixion of the One who had changed her life forever. The sorrow of His death was heavy, the grief suffocating. But now, in a moment that shattered every expectation, she stood face to face with the risen Jesus.

What does she do next? She goes and tells. She doesn’t keep this miraculous encounter to herself. She doesn’t delay or question her worthiness to carry the message. She runs to the disciples, declaring, “I have seen the Lord!”

Mary’s response is a powerful model for us today. When we encounter Jesus, when His grace, love, and power transform our lives, we are not meant to keep it to ourselves. The good news of His resurrection is not just for our personal encouragement; it is meant to be shared.

Think about the first time you truly understood the depth of Christ’s love. Did it ignite something in you? Did you feel the urgency to tell someone? Over time, the temptation to let that fire fade can creep in. But Jesus is still alive. He is still transforming lives. And just as Mary was entrusted with the message, so are we.

Perhaps today, there is someone in your life who needs to hear, “I have seen the Lord.” Maybe it’s a friend struggling with doubt, a coworker burdened with anxiety, or a family member searching for hope. You may be the messenger God wants to use to remind them that Jesus is alive, active, and reaching out to them.

Here are some practical things we can do today so, we too, can “Go and tell the Good News.”

Reflect on a time when you experienced Jesus in a real way. How did it impact your faith?

Ask God to give you an opportunity today to share His love with someone.

Be intentional in sharing how Jesus has worked in your life, just as Mary did.

Go and tell someone today: “I have seen the Lord!”

Heavenly Father, thank You for the resurrection of Jesus and the life-changing power it brings. Give me boldness like Mary to share the good news with others. Open my eyes to those who need to hear about You today. May my life be a testimony that proclaims, “I have seen the Lord.” In Jesus’ name, Amen.
