All For The One

“What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off?”
— Matthew 18:12 (NIV)

Imagine a shepherd standing on a hillside, counting his sheep as the sun begins to set. Ninety-nine are safely within his fold, yet his heart is restless. He recounts, scanning the horizon. One is missing. Without hesitation, he sets out into the wilderness, searching through rocky paths and darkened valleys, determined to find the one who has strayed.

This verse in Matthew 18 is not just a simple parable, it’s a window into the relentless love of God. Jesus speaks these words to illustrate how deeply the Father values each individual soul. He does not write us off as replaceable. He does not dismiss our wandering as insignificant. Instead, He pursues us with unwavering devotion.

Maybe today, you feel like that lost sheep. Maybe you’ve strayed from God’s presence, distracted by the noise of the world or weighed down by guilt and shame. But hear this: God has not forgotten you. He is searching, calling your name, and reaching into the depths of your wandering heart. His love is not based on your performance but on His nature, He is a shepherd who refuses to let even one be lost.

Here are some examples on how to apply this to your life.

1. Reflect on a time when you felt distant from God. How did He draw you back?

2. Ask God to give you His heart for the lost, whether it’s a friend, a family member, or someone in your community.

3. Take a moment to thank God for His relentless love, knowing that He would cross any distance to bring you home.

If you are in a season where you feel distant from God, take comfort in this truth: He is already on His way to find you. And if you are among the ninety-nine, remember, He invites us to reflect His heart, to be people who seek out the hurting, the lost, and the forgotten.

You are never too lost for God to find. Let His love lead you back.

Heavenly Father, thank You for being a God who pursues us, even when we wander. Remind me of Your great love and help me to trust in Your care. If I am lost, draw me back to You. If I am found, give me a heart that seeks others as You do. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
