Drawing Near with Confidence
02/01/2025
“Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”
– Hebrews 4:16 (NIV)
There is a deep invitation in this verse, an invitation to come boldly before God. Not hesitantly. Not fearfully. Not ashamedly. But with confidence.
For many, the idea of standing before God’s throne can seem intimidating. We might feel unworthy, weighed down by past mistakes, or uncertain if God will truly receive us. But this passage reminds us that the throne we approach is not one of condemnation, but of grace. This is the place where mercy is abundant and grace flows freely.
The writer of Hebrews encourages us to draw near because Jesus, our great High Priest, has made the way for us. He understands our weaknesses, our struggles, our failures, and yet He welcomes us with open arms. His sacrifice tore the veil, removing any barrier between us and God. Now, instead of shrinking back, we can step forward, knowing that we are fully accepted in Christ.
Are you carrying a burden today? Do you feel like you need to clean yourself up before coming to God? This verse reminds us that we don’t have to wait until we have it all together. God invites us to come as we are. Whether you are in a season of joy or a time of deep struggle, His grace is sufficient.
Take a moment today to quiet your heart and enter into His presence. Speak to Him honestly, knowing that He is listening with love. Ask for His help in whatever you are facing, and trust that He will provide the grace you need in your time of need.
God’s grace is not rationed. It is not reserved for a select few. It is poured out for all who come to Him. So today, step forward with confidence, knowing that you are loved, welcomed, and strengthened in His presence.
Heavenly Father, thank You for the privilege of coming boldly before Your throne. Thank You that I don’t have to be afraid or ashamed, because You have covered me with Your grace. Help me to trust that You hear my prayers and that You are always ready to help. Fill me with confidence in Your mercy, and teach me to rely on You in every season. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
