He Will Save His People

12/21/2024

“She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”
— Matthew 1:21 (NIV)

This verse is a profound announcement of God’s eternal plan to redeem humanity. The angel’s words to Joseph reveal both Jesus’ identity and His mission. His name, “Jesus,” means “The Lord saves,” underscoring His role as the Savior of the world.

Sin separates us from God, leaving us broken and lost. Yet, God’s love is so great that He sent His Son, not merely as a teacher or healer, but as the ultimate sacrifice to bring salvation to His people. Notice the phrasing: “He will save his people from their sins.” It highlights both the personal nature of salvation and the universal scope of Jesus’ mission.

This salvation isn’t something we can achieve on our own. It is a gift, made possible through Jesus’ death and resurrection. His birth marked the beginning of the greatest rescue mission in history—a mission to deliver us from sin’s penalty, power, and presence.

Receive. Live. Share. The three things you can do to enjoy salvation and your walk with Christ.

Receive the Gift

Have you embraced Jesus as your Savior? Salvation is available to all who believe in Him and confess their need for His grace.

Live in Freedom

Knowing that Jesus saves us from sin’s power, let us walk in the freedom and joy of His forgiveness. Don’t carry the burden of guilt when Jesus has already paid the price.

Share the Good News

Just as Joseph received the announcement of Jesus’ purpose, we are called to share this message of hope with others. Who in your life needs to hear about the saving power of Jesus today?

Meditate on the name “Jesus” today. Each time you say or hear His name, remember its meaning and thank Him for being your Savior.

Heavenly Father, thank You for sending Your Son, Jesus, to save us from our sins. We acknowledge our need for Your grace and rejoice in the freedom You offer through Christ. Help us to live each day with gratitude for Your gift of salvation, and may we boldly share this good news with those around us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
