Even There…

“Even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.” — Psalm 139:10 (NIV)
Today’s verse is a powerful reminder of God’s intimate knowledge and constant presence in our lives. In verse 10, King David assures us that no matter where we are—physically, emotionally, or spiritually—God's guiding hand is ever-present. His right hand, symbolizing strength and authority, not only leads us but holds us securely.
We all encounter moments in life when we feel lost or uncertain, but this verse encourages us that even in those moments, we are never out of God’s reach. Whether we are navigating a difficult decision, facing anxiety about the future, or simply feeling distant from God, His hand is there to guide and sustain us.
When my whole family decided to relocate from Arizona to Texas, I was here first for a job. About six months I was here, without them. Even though I was excited about the new role, the new opportunities for us, at times I felt overwhelmed by the unfamiliar environment, and being so far from my family. In those first few weeks, I found myself questioning my decision and wondering if we had made a mistake. Why didn’t my house sell, how long would I be alone? Then, one evening, while reading Psalm 139, I was struck by verse 10: “Even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.” Immediately, peace came over me, It was God that had guided me to this place and He would continue to direct my path. Clinging to that promise, I felt peace wash over me, knowing I wasn’t alone in this new chapter. Over time, God opened doors for community and purpose where I least expected it. Now, almost 28 years later, He absolutely was there…..even there.
Here are some things you can do for yourself as well as helping someone else know that He is always there.
Reflect on a time when you felt lost, either physically or spiritually, and consider how God guided you through it. Journal about how He has been faithful in leading you.
Ask for guidance in a specific area of your life today. Maybe you're facing a challenging decision, or you feel uncertain about the future. Spend time in prayer, asking God to reveal the next steps and trust in His leadership.
Offer support to someone who may feel lost or overwhelmed. Encourage them with Psalm 139:10, reminding them that God's hand is always guiding and holding them.
No matter where life takes you, God's hand will guide and hold you—never doubt that you are in His care.
Father, thank You for always being with me. Even when I feel unsure or lost, I know that Your hand is guiding me, and Your right hand is holding me fast. Help me trust in Your leadership and rest in Your strength today. Lead me in the way You want me to go, and may I always seek Your direction. In Jesus' name, Amen.
