The Sovereign God: Always in Charge

12/30/2023

"The Lord has established his throne in the heavens, and his kingdom rules over all."
- Psalm 103:19 (ESV)

In this topsy-turvy world where things are always changing, it's a real source of comfort to know that there's one thing that never wavers - our God is calling the shots over everything. Psalm 103:19 paints a beautiful picture of this truth, telling us that the Lord has set up shop in the heavens, and His kingdom is the boss of it all.

Take a minute to soak in this verse. It's like a reminder to kick back and think about how solid and in control our God is. First off, notice that God's throne is up there in the heavens, showing He's the big cheese with ultimate authority. Unlike rulers on this Earth whose reigns have an expiration date, God's in charge forever. He's the real deal, the top dog, and no one can even come close to challenging Him.

The psalmist also throws in that God's kingdom rules over everything. This isn't just about stars and planets; it's about every little detail of our lives. From the grandest mountains to the deepest oceans, God's got it all under control. His kingdom isn't limited to the cosmic; it's right here, shaping our personal lives, relationships, and even the big-picture stuff like what's going on with the nations.

Living in a world where nothing seems certain, knowing God is in control is like a warm, reassuring hug. It means that, no matter how rough things get, God's got it handled. The hurdles we jump, the storms we weather, and the tough times we face are all part of God's plan. He's with us every step of the way, weaving everything together for our good and His glory.

Recognizing God's in charge also means giving up our plans and letting Him take the wheel. When we get that His kingdom rules over everything, it's a nod to the fact that He knows better. Even when we don't get what's happening, God sees the big picture and is working things out perfectly.

As we cruise through each day, let's not forget – our God is running the show. He's the boss from start to finish. May this truth anchor us and bring hope, peace, and confidence. Let's surrender to His plan, trusting that His kingdom is the ultimate winner. Rest easy in His unfailing love, knowing His throne in the heavens is here to stay, and His kingdom is the real deal. Amen.
