Trusting the God of the Impossible

“Jesus looked at them and said, 'With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.'"
– Matthew 19:26 (NIV)
In our daily lives, we often face challenges and obstacles that seem insurmountable. Whether it be struggles in our relationships, finances, health, or any other aspect of our lives, it can be easy to feel overwhelmed and powerless. But in these moments, it is important to remember the powerful promise that Jesus gives us in Matthew 19:26.
In this verse, Jesus responds to a rich young man's question about inheriting eternal life. After Jesus outlines the commandments, the young man claims he has kept them all and asks what he still lacks. Jesus then challenges him to sell his possessions, give to the poor, and follow Him. The young man goes away sad, for he has great wealth.
This prompts the disciples to question who then can be saved, given the high standard Jesus sets. Jesus looks at them and delivers a profound truth: "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."
Jesus reminds us that while certain things may seem impossible, we may feel weak, inadequate, or incapable of overcoming our challenges on our own, the good news is that we do not have to rely solely on our own strength and abilities. With God, all things are possible.
This verse speaks to the very heart of our faith. It reminds us that human effort alone is insufficient for achieving what truly matters—whether that is eternal salvation, overcoming sin, or fulfilling God's calling in our lives. It is only through God's power and grace that we can attain these things.
Consider the areas in your life where you feel overwhelmed or inadequate. It might be a relationship that seems beyond repair, a financial burden that feels insurmountable, or a personal struggle that seems impossible to overcome. Remember, these challenges are not too great for God. He specializes in the impossible.
Try this today and see how it can pertain to you.
Identify one area in your life where you need to rely more on God's power. Commit it to prayer daily this week, asking God to work in that situation and trusting Him to do what seems impossible.
Remember, God is the ultimate source of strength, wisdom, and power. He is capable of doing far more than we could ever imagine. When we place our trust in Him and surrender our struggles to His care, He can work miracles in our lives. He can provide us with the strength, guidance, and resources we need to overcome any obstacle that stands in our way.
So today, trust in God's ability to work in our lives and to bring about the impossible. May we have faith that He is with us every step of the way, helping us to overcome our challenges and accomplish great things for His glory.
As you go through your day, carry this truth with you: God is not limited by our limitations. He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think. Trust in Him, for with God, all things are possible.
Heavenly Father, thank You for reminding us that with You, all things are possible. Help us to trust in Your power and not rely solely on our own strength. In moments of doubt and difficulty, remind us that You are the God of the impossible. Strengthen our faith and guide us in Your ways. In Jesus' name, Amen.
