Strength in the Lord’s Reward

02/06/2025

“But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.”
– 2 Chronicles 15:7 (NIV)

This verse comes in the middle of a powerful moment in Israel’s history. The prophet Azariah speaks these words to King Asa, encouraging him to remain faithful to God in a time when many had turned away. Asa had begun a reform, tearing down idols, calling the people back to worship, and restoring righteousness in the land. But obedience is never without opposition, and the weight of the task likely felt overwhelming.

Can you relate? Have you ever felt like your efforts in serving God were unnoticed, or that the burden of faithfulness was just too heavy? I know I have. Maybe you’ve poured yourself into ministry, into leading your family in righteousness, or into standing firm in integrity at your workplace, yet discouragement whispers, “Is it worth it?”

God’s answer is clear: Be strong. Do not give up. Your work will be rewarded.

I promise you, God sees every prayer you’ve whispered in faith. He knows the late nights you’ve spent seeking Him, the moments when you chose righteousness even when it cost you something. He sees the seeds of kindness, truth, and love you’ve planted, even when you don’t see immediate fruit. Remember 1 Corinthians 15:58, Nothing done for the Lord is in vain.

This verse reminds us that perseverance in faith is not futile. God is the rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. The reward may not always come in the way we expect, sometimes it’s spiritual growth, sometimes it’s peace in the storm, and sometimes it’s blessings beyond what we imagined. But the promise stands: God rewards faithfulness.

Here are a few action steps you can take to help along the way.

Ask yourself, Where do I feel weary in my faith journey? Surrender that to God today.

Ask the Lord for renewed strength to keep pressing forward.

Remember a past moment when God rewarded your perseverance, let that encourage you now.

Keep going. Keep believing. Keep trusting. The Lord is your strength, and He will reward your faithfulness.

Heavenly Father, thank You for this reminder that my labor is not in vain. Strengthen my heart when I feel weary. Help me to persevere in faith, knowing that You are faithful to reward those who seek You. May I stand firm in obedience, trusting in Your promises. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
