The Immutable Love of God - Our Strength and Portion
12/27/2023
"My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever."
- Psalm 73:26 ESV
In the hustle and bustle of life, it's easy to become overwhelmed, discouraged, and feel like our strength is waning. We may face trials, uncertainties, and even moments of doubt that make us question our purpose and the path we are treading. It is during these times that we need to cling to the unchanging attribute of God - His love.
Psalm 73:26 reminds us that no matter how weak or frail our physical bodies may become, no matter how our hearts may ache with pain or sorrow, God's unwavering love remains our ultimate source of strength and our eternal portion. It is a love that surpasses all human understanding, a love that endures through all circumstances, and a love that reaches into the depths of our souls.
As we reflect on the final attribute of God during this advent season - love, we are reminded of the incredible gift of Jesus Christ. God's love was made manifest in the most profound way as He sent His only Son to be born in a humble manger, to live a sinless life, and ultimately to lay down His life for our sake. This act of sacrificial love demonstrated to us that God's love is not fleeting or conditional, but rather a constant and unchanging force that holds us and sustains us through every trial and tribulation.
Even when we stumble and falter, when our hearts grow weary, or when our faith feels fragile, God's love is still there, ready to strengthen us and provide us with an everlasting portion. It is a love that surpasses our own understanding, a love that stands firm when everything else fades away.
Let us be reminded of the profound love that God has shown us. Let’s take solace in the fact that His love is not temporary, but eternal. It is a love that empowers us to persevere, to find hope in the midst of despair, and to trust that no matter what we face, God is with us.
Today, let us surrender our striving, our worries, and our doubts to the unfailing love of God. Let us draw near to Him, knowing that His love will sustain us, strengthen us, and guide us throughout our lives. May we find comfort in knowing that God's love is our strength and our eternal portion.
